BLACKTOWN AND DISTRICTS SOCCER FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION INC. MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD 1/08/07 AT FRANCIS PARK ATTENDANCE J. TAYLOR, R. PALMER, D. SIM, L. ARCHER, J. NEAL, N. TOOMEY, L. SMITH, J. BOYLE, APOLOGIES I. WESTRAY, I. McCUTCHEON MSA Suspend standing orders to meet with the FDC. Attendance - Quakers Hill Junior, Tigers, Doonside, Rooty Hill RSL, Prospect, Glenwood, Plumpton, Kings Langley. It is noted that Marayong, Oakville and Parklea were not in attendance. 07/251 Dane welcomed everyone and handed the meeting over to Jack 1. We have booked Quakers Park for the girls final day and it will be sponsored by the Soccer Wearhouse. We will provide all infrastructure on the day but help will be needed. 2. Question what are the dates for the semi's - 16th September, as gazetted the girls will have a week off when the other final weekend is on. 3. 2007 Review Most of you fared well some did not, Marayong and Oakville did not end up with a single team. For the most part, recruitment was stunning. Clubs are reminded that you must include in your rules the position of a Female Development Officer and their duties Coaching criteria was largely ignored by most. David Hubbard has inspected six of the clubs and no one has failed. The most damaging thing has been the interference from the clubs with U14 girls. It was shortsighted and the email war didn't help. Discussion ensued Quakers Hill & Rooty Hill RSL raised the issue of U14 Girls Finals. It was pointed all playing conditions were set out by the MC prior to the season. Clubs had asked for a re-structure, which was given, now they wanted another restructure which would return to status quo wanted by the MC prior to the interference. Jack - the MC struggles to understand the mania with the U14 Girls when teams in other divisions are losing by huge scores with no apparent problem. If we allow double finals for one division of ladies what about the 6000 other players who will not contest finals? Jack - it is development - it's not all about winning, clubs should instill the correct ideas in their players instead of being selfish and self interested. Rooty Hill - my girls stand to lose the most here they have not played Prospect at all. Jack - All MC decisions are appealable or even rescindable. Instead of using the rules some clubs used email wars. You could have rescinded the motion when it was made. If you wish the meeting can put a motion forward which the MC will duly consider. Quakers Hill put the motion that the top 4 teams from each group contest the final series. Seconded by Plumpton. 6 votes for the motion. Quakers Hill asked for a discussion paper to be put together for all clubs. Jack - all business discussed at meeting is Minuted and information is distributed, we do have a communication problem with some of our clubs. We would hope that you will discuss this with your clubs Jack - we will discuss the motion put by Quakers Hill at our M.C. meeting later and get back to you with our decision. 4. 2008 - We have struggled with 11 clubs this year so we may decrease the number of clubs for next year. We will limit the number of teams per age group per club and you will be required to field teams in all age groups Quakers Hill we have a problem with the age group U21's Jack - we will discuss playing conditions and the number of over age players you can have Glenwood - could the U21's be a mixed competition as the boys. Yes. Plumpton - so our AAL team and our U18's would be a squad. Yes. Glenwood - we have a problem our AAL aren't up to playing division 1. The term "Womens Premier League" will not be used as it implies the division is the top division. What we are trying to do is provide a complete structure for your players to move forward. Numbers suggest there are too few U16 players who will move on next year. Not enough to form an U18 division. There are currently enough ladies within FDC Clubs of an age to form an U21 league. Jack - we will meet again to discuss playing conditions and if the FDC as a group say no division 1 teams can't play in this competition that would be acceptable. Jack - we may offer non FDC's to nominate U10 girls teams next year and U12's the following year Glenwood - could limiting teams in an age group that be flexible as we should have three U10's next year. Jack - we must try to avoid teams for the same club having to play each other, if you have more than two in an age group we must aim for 3 divisions. 5. General Business - Rooty Hill wrote about holding a pre season tournament, the MC are in support of the idea we will look into it, but maybe difficult for next year. Rooty Hill - can we have combined sides and enter them into the Kanga cup next year. Yes Clubs could nominate players and maybe fund it. Jack - when your teams are full you must send your girls on. All clubs said that the girls didn't want to go and must didn't end up playing. Quakers Hill - asked about the growth of the girls Jack - we had a growth of 12% last year and it was mostly female players. Forecast growth should be 6% per season, if we continue at 12% we must then discuss our future with Council as we hardly fit on some grounds now. Dane thanked everyone for attending. 07/252 Meeting with Prospect re Summer Soccer In attendance from Prospect - Trevor Keayes, Dominic Calabro, Brian Vella, Andrew Lenz Prospect- we received the minutes from the 27th June stating that the MC would be involved with Summer Soccer. We have an issue with the fee to be imposed by the Association and why you want to be involved now as we have run a successful competition. We have players come from all over Sydney as far as Newcastle and Wollongong. The $10 fee will make it expensive summer sport. Jack - Football NSW require Associations to be involved in the administering of Summer Soccer and there will be a fee, winter players pay a fee, summer soccer will be no different. Prospect stated they had 900 players for summer soccer and feel that the money raised by the BDSFA is too much. It was pointed out that BDSFA funds belong to everyone and Prospect would also benefit for any extra funds raised, Can we suggest changes for rules. Yes, it is stated in the Rules For Summer Soccer that clubs can adopt or change rules. Discussion ensued Dane thanked them for coming 07/253 MSA resume standing orders 07/254 The minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted. Matters Arising: nil 07/255 CORRESPONDENCE 1.
