The usually drab expanses of Whalan Reserve were turned into a sea of colour and faces as thousands of spectators turned out to watch the Elite Sports Grand Finals over the weekend.

An estimated crowd of over 5000 eagerly watched their teams play for Finals Honours, with the "man-of-the-match" receiving the Patrick Match Ball courtesy of Elite Sports. The crowd on Sunday was equally impressive as the Ladies and all adult men's matches were played. Many teams were vying for the honour of representing the district in the Football NSW Champion of Champions giving those games even more pressure.  The BDSFA wish to thank all those Club Volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the weekend to ensure our players and their spectators had a wonderful time and to Blacktown Council for all the hard work and assistance in making Whalan Reserve ready for our invasion.  Congratulations to all teams for the high skill level and the fantastic sportmanship shown throughout the weekend.

Standing Committees

The changes in the 2009 Association Incorporation Act gives the Board the job of managing the Association. Members democracy now rests solely at election time. The BDSFA Inc has always been one of the most democratic Associations who value the input and thoughts of members.
To keep our traditions alive, we have enshrined in our new Constitution the role of a number of Standing Committees whose function is to meet and make recommendations to the Board on their area of Expertise.
The Board has made provisions for the following permanent Standing Committees: -

Elite Football
Women's Football
Football
Coaching
Refereeing.

Other Standing Committees may be constituted at any time as may "special purpose" committees.

The Elite Football Standing Committee, Chaired by Dane Sim, was formed to give a voice to our Elite arm Blacktown Spartans, but has already taken the BDSFA Premier League under its wing and those clubs with Premier League teams have direct access to the Board for their ideas. This Standing Committee has also expressed its desire, and with the Boards blessing, to represent all Adult Male Football.

The Women's Standing Committee, Chaired by John Boyle, is already formed and will take the job of the old FDC meetings to not only look after teenage women's football, but adult women's football.

The Football Standing Committee is Chaired by Chris Gafa whose role is towards "Saturday" football and will meet to discuss issues on Small Sided Games (Roo Ball) and all teams up to Under 16s.

The Coaching Standing Committee is Chaired by Darren Graham and will consider all aspects of coaching. The new FFA National Curriculum will be their first task as all licensing has recently changed. How we manage the new criteria will be on this Committee's recommendations to the Board.

The Referee's Standing Committee will take a different role and will become the operational committee for refereeing. This committee will mainly consist of referees whose role will be to supply a high quality and quantity of referees for our matches. Referees will be appointed on merit.

Membership to all Standing Committees is by application. The Office will send forms to all clubs with copies in our "Forms" Library on the Association's Web Site. Suitable applicants will be appointed by the Board for a period of two years. All Standing Committees will be Chaired by a Director of the BDSFA.

Anyone can contact a Standing Committee Chairman simply by sending an email to standingcommittee@bdsfa.com.au and your idea will be placed on the agenda of the next meeting.

We value and encourage your active participation.
